Determination of specific fuel consumption for ICEs (Internal Combustion Engines).
Stationary Diesel Engines running three - phase electric generators.
Metering of fuel flow (supply and return line).
McMillan USA - fuel meter (turbine-type: electrical output.).
BMB designed and constructed the proprietory turbine for the fuel meter (with INSA Zemun Belgrade SERBIA, ZASTAVA Kragujevac SERBIA).
Also, BMB designed and constructed a propriatory Frequency-to-Voltage converter, to feed the fuel meter pulse - output into the Analog - to - Digital Converter.
Analog - to - Digital converter was also of the BMB's Design and Construction: 11 and 22 channel, 10-bit precision, based on Analog Device's AD736 IC.
Another set of metering equipment: current metering transformers (3x), voltage metering transformers (3x), and the electric power transducer.
Electric power transducer designed and constructed at Institute MIHAJLO PUPIN Belgrade SERBIA, and adjusted / adapted / supplemented by BMB.
For Data Acquisition, the Pico Technology Ltd. UK software PicoLog has been used.
Also, BMB has developed LabVIEW based Energy Instruments (VIs - Virtual Instruments) that served as electric power transducer: currents and voltages have been metered and introduced into the LabVIEW on PC via National Instrument's AT-MIO analog multiple input Data Acquisition Board, then the propriatory algorithm has been applied to calculate real power (Wats), apparent power (VAs) and cosFI.
The fuel consumption readouts were plotted against the electric power produced, at various load levels, and the optimal working / operational point (electric load) has been determined.
Performed on a number of sites in Australia: Northern Territory, South Australia.
